About Me

Following a back injury in 2001, and after trying the usual remedies (physical therapy, rest, medication), I was given a yoga DVD.  With no prior interest in yoga I was amazed at how much I enjoyed the movements and how my body responded.  I wandered into a local yoga class which, coincidentally, was in the Svaroopa® style.  The teacher modified the poses and the changes traveled deep into my core.

One year later I began Teacher Training (YTT) and became a CSYT (Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Teacher) and Embodyment® Yoga Therapist in 2004.  Continuing into Advanced Teacher Training (ATT), I've earned Certification in Yoga Business Skills, Pregnancy Yoga, Vichara (yoga for the mind), and can teach Continuing level, Gentle yoga and Deeper yoga.  A mentor for Svaroopa® Yoga teachers-in-training, I help student teachers develop skills to write safe and effective lesson plans, assuring all students of Svaroopa® yoga gain incremental openings that their body remembers and helps improve pain, stress and tension with increased strength, flexibility and vitality.

Having completed Svaroopa Vidya Meditation Teacher Training, I am authorized by Swami Nirmalandanda to teach introductory Meditation courses.  Certified Svaroopa® Yoga and Meditation teachers are required to maintain high levels of Continuing Education; my CEUs are up-to-date and include coursework in both the USA and India. A member of SATYA, the Svaroopa® teachers association,  I am also a member of Yoga Alliance (E-RYT500).

“The yoga therapy components of my teaching are based on my [non-YAR credential or other qualification], not derived from my status as an [RYT/E-RYT] with Yoga Alliance Registry.”
